Jilly Bag

$8.00

Simple knitting yields stylish results. What could be easier? Jilly is a bag knit with ribbing and seed stitch. The pattern includes directions for a felted handle, other (unusual) handle options and a lining. Okay, there is some finishing involved but the results are worth it.

Yarn: Any worsted weight yarn. Fiber content is not important, except for the felted handles. To make felted handles, use a wool yarn that will shrink when washed.

Large bag uses 600 yards, with or without the felted handles. A heavy worsted weight yarn, such as Lamb's Pride Worsted, is a good choice for the large bag.

Medium bag uses 400 yards with or without the felted handles. Light worsted weight yarns, such as Galway or Cascade 220, are good choices for the medium and small sizes.

Small bag uses 200 yards if purchasing handles. For the bag with felted handles, get an extra skein.

660 yards for the version without a flap; 880 yards with a flap.

Needles: 24" long circular needles or straight needles in sizes 7 and 8 for the larger bag. 24" long circular needles or straight needles in sizes 6 and 7 for the medium and small bags. Double point needles in size 10.5US for the felted handles

Finished measurements: Large bag is 15" wide and 12" tall. Medium bag is 12" wide and 9.5" tall. Small bag is 10" wide and 8" deep.
